Manage Study Staff Delegations

Overview

When you add a site staff member to a study with the Digital Delegation feature enabled, the person’s default list of responsibilities are copied as delegations to their study team assignment. You can view the list of delegations in the Study Staff Delegations section of the user’s Study Team Assignment page.

Once you’ve added the staff member to the study, you can update their study delegations as needed. For example, you can delete a delegation if it’s not relevant to the study, or you can create new delegations for the user.

The following considerations also apply to a study team member’s study delegations:

  • If you update the user’s default list of responsibilities after adding them to the study, their study delegations aren’t updated automatically. You can complete the steps in the section below to add a proposed study delegation for the user.
  • If you make a change to a study team member’s delegations after the PI has already approved, the status of the user’s Study Team Assignment record is updated to Proposed Changes - Acceptance Needed. Ensure that you resend the proposed study delegations for acceptance and PI approval when you’re finished.
  • When a study team assignment state is changed to Make Inactive, any delegation end date-time fields that are empty or reflect an end date-time after the assignment end date-time, are updated to the assignment end date-time.

Creating, Editing, and Deactivating Study Staff Delegation Records

  1. Navigate to Studies.
  2. Select a study.
  3. Select Team.
  4. Select a study team member.
  5. Select Edit. Previously assigned responsibilities are selected by default.
  6. Choose the appropriate action:
    • To create a new delegation record, search for and select the new responsibility from the Study Responsibility column.
    • To remove a delegation record, search for and deselect the delegation.
      • If the delegation has not yet been approved, this action removes the record upon saving.
      • If the delegation has been approved, this action deactivates the record.
  7. Select Save.
  8. Optionally, you can enter a start or end date for the proposed delegation by updating the localized Start Date field. Access either by opening the delegation record link or by double-clicking in the appropriate table cell.
