You can lock the signature fields to ensure that a participant or signatory discusses the study with site personnel before signing (virtually or in person). Once the participant or signatory is well-informed about the study and is prepared to sign, you can generate an unlock code to open the signature fields. On connected studies, the sponsor may disable this setting.
- Locate the document in Documents > Library or Studies > Select the study > Consent Forms.
- Select Edit eConsent from the Document Actions menu.
- Select Settings.
- Turn on the Requires Unlock Code to Sign toggle.
- When you are done editing, select one of the following options:
- Save to Vault: Select to save your changes and create a new version in Vault without ending your editing session. Saving to Vault allows other staff to view the progress you’ve made. If another user needs to edit the form, you’ll need to check in the document.
- Check In: Select to create a new version and end your editing session. The document is unlocked in Vault, so others can edit it or send it for review.
To generate the unlock code, see Create Unlock Code.
