Getting Started

Universal Site Number (USN)

The Universal Site Number (USN) is a unique identifier created and assigned by Veeva to research sites (example: US-KS-#####). This includes, but is not limited to, each department or distinct operational research unit within a hospital or academic medical center, each individual site within a site network, and any independent research site.

USN Purpose

  • Site Connect users can save site addresses to the USN’s registry for easy access and use on future studies.
  • Study Startup users can store answers to standard and reusable feasibility survey questions.
  • The USN facilitates the connectivity between Site Connect and SiteVault for document exchange and additional tasks. For more information, see Connecting Site Connect to SiteVault.

Receiving a USN Assignment

Sites can receive a USN by:

  • A self-service request during a Study Startup feasibility survey
  • Entering a site address in Site Connect
  • Automatic assignment when signing up for SiteVault.
