Initiating or Completing Read & Understand Workflows

Learn how to initiate or complete a Read and Understand workflow.

Read & Understand (R&U) workflows enable you to send one or more study documents to study team members. Each recipient must confirm they have read and understood each study document. A common use for this workflow is to record evidence of self training on a document or video.

The following prerequisites must be met before you can initiate a Read & Understand workflow:

  • The document must use the Draft to Final, Draft to Approved for Use, Draft to Current, or Draft to Effective document lifecycles. See the Available Steady State Workflows column of the Document Types Reference Spreadsheet to see which specific document types are eligible.
  • The document must be in its steady state (for example, Final, Current, Approved for Use, or Effective).
  • The recipient staff must be assigned to the applicable study.
